"My Lips" - But Better

"My Lips" - But Better

The hunt for perfect lipstick; Sometimes quite challenging (trust me), Other times rather easy. I always find myself drawn to the bright reds and other vibrant colours. Everyday lipstick, however is nice to wear but sometimes hard to find. We need something moisturizing, long-lasting and it has to be a fitting shade.

The 'everyday' lipstick that I have found to be absolutely perfect for my lip colour is the Rimmel Moisture Renew in the shade Rose Blush (190).

The formula is quite moisturizing, and I find that it sits well, even after many hours.

This lipstick is not matte, but rather a creamy and shiny texture. I personally don't love when lipstick is overly glossy so I will dab my lips gently with a Kleenex after a generous application of this lipstick.

Overall I think Rose Blush is a great "My Lips But Better" shade.

Abandoned Adventure

Abandoned Adventure

I don't believe that I will ever be able to escape my undying love for abandoned buildings (this is not a problem). There is just something so beautiful about them. Around 4 years ago I stumbled across my 'first' abandoned house. It was in the middle of a forest with tree branches growing through the windows. All of the doors and the glass in the windows were gone and it was practically bare on the inside. I fell in love. I visited it quite often, sometimes I brought my friends. I remember one evening sitting in what would have been the living room and reading a book. A thunderstorm came and it was just so peaceful. Anyway, my love for abandoned houses has only grown from there and I have came across many since then.

I recently revisited a house which I had came across a few years ago. It is a beautiful farm house which has been quite undisturbed (which is rare!). I particularly love this house because of the front of it. Since it is pretty much out in the open, you can see all of the architectural details. The front of the house has the cutest little porch with the most delicate details.

The window frames at the back of the house had a lot of pretty clover and other plants growing out of them. It was so beautiful. I think that this house looks particularly wonderful when it is surrounded by fall colours.

Everyone is getting down and dirty with Frank. Should you?

Everyone is getting down and dirty with Frank. Should you?

Frank. Body. Scrub.

If you don't know, now you do. And you should know that Frank is awesome.

Frank is a coffee scrub that does an incredible job of exfoliating your skin.

I have been using Frank for about 3 months now and I absolutely LOVE it. I use the product to exfoliate and it leaves me with silky smooth skin. It smells amazing, it feels amazing, and leaves you feeling energized and so soft. It can get a bit messy in the shower, but it is worth it.

Frank advertises that he targets cellulite, stretch-marks and other imperfections. I don't use the product for those reasons, but many people do: see their results here

Overall, I am a big supporter. If you are looking for a new exfoliating scrub, I highly suggest looking into purchasing Frank.

Happy Scrubbing,
Madi xx

To Chop or Not to Chop; the buzz about short hair

To Chop or Not to Chop; the buzz about short hair

Hair is important! Many people take pride in caring for their hair and making sure it is looking great. We are interested in what products will keep down the frizz, or promote the most healthy shine. I'm sure some of you can relate to this.

My hair has been the absolute most basic hair. Naturally dirty blonde and awkwardly wavy. I got my first drastic haircut when I was 9. I went from 'stomach-length' hair to shoulder length hair. It was pretty exciting for a 9 year old. After that I never touched it, other than the odd trim to keep away split ends. For 10 years my hair just grew and grew and grew!

About a month ago, I decided to CHOP.

It was honestly one of the most spontaneous decisions that I have ever made. I decided on a Tuesday night, called Wednesday morning and got in that afternoon. I went to a salon in downtown Calgary, called The Ginger Group. It was fantastic. After 10 years of long hair, I figured it was time for a change!

The salon had a really cool atmosphere. It was in an old brick building mixed with a really modern look. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable.

I have been blessed with an extremely round face. I find that having short hair flatters my face and I am very thankful for that. Also, people have told me that I look a little bit older. When we are young adults, it feels pretty good not to get ID'd... for some reason that changes as we get older. :P

It is so much easier to do my hair now. As a college student, I find it difficult to find time to actually care about my appearance. Homework is stressful, yknow? :) My hair takes honestly about 5 minutes to dry with a hairdryer, but if I choose to let it dry naturally, it only takes about 40 minutes. Curling is easy. Straightening is easy. Everything is easy! It feels light and happy.

What do you think about short hair?
